EL Teacher Share: Print: Duties Provides in educational instruction to bilingual students. Assists students in understanding instruction and direction as required. Prepares material for bilingual students. Develops an educational program to fit the needs of each qualifying individual student. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated. Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning. Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation at the request of the principal. Sets and maintain standards of classroom behavior and report to the appropriate administrator information about individual student compliance with school and district behavioral expectations, and state and federal laws. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. Strives to implement by instruction and action the District’s philosophy of educational and instructional goals and objectives. Evaluates student progress on a regular basis. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulations. Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board Policy. Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms. Attends and participates in meetings involving the faculty and other participants that are of reasonable length and address a relevant educational topic as a legitimate function and obligation of professional educators. Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods. Cooperates in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials. Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students. Willing to work flexible hours. Completes other duties as assigned by administration pertaining to aforementioned position. Qualifications Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with appropriate endorsements or as set by Illinois State Board of Education licensure authorities. ESL endorsement Must have the ability to speak and understand a second language. Must be proficient in the English language.
