Math & Science Instructional Coordinator & Coach

Duties

1. Planning/Preparation
? Lead, in conjunction with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, the Curriculum & Instruction Department, and the administrative team, the development, implementation, refinement, and assessment of the instructional programs.
? Assist in the analysis of student assessment data for the purpose of determining the impact of teaching and instructional programming on student learning; use a data-informed approach to propel continuous improvement planning.
? Assist administrators in the placement of students in the Advanced Learning Program.
? Coordinate instructional materials and supplies to ensure that all necessary items are available and distributed appropriately to ensure equitable access to high-quality learning.
? Plan for and lead collaborative team meetings focused on instructional practices, data analysis, and student learning.
2. Classroom Environment
? Collaborate with the Innovation and Instructional Technology Coach to effectively integrate technology meaningfully into the curriculum to maximize student voice, choice, engagement, and ownership of learning.
? Develop a professional learning library that contains journals, books, and professional materials for use by teachers in the classroom or for professional use.
? Assist teachers with the integration of instructional tools, strategies, manipulatives, etc in a classroom setting to positively impact student learning.
3. Delivery of Services/Instruction
? Engage in coaching cycles with teachers to model, co-plan and co-teach, and observe lessons that leverage evidence-based instructional practices and nurture critical thinking, problem solving, and student engagement.
? Serve as a resource to colleagues and administrators related to evidence/standards- based learning and assessment.
? Recommend to and assist teachers with differentiating the curricula. Provide suggestions for differentiation, extension of lessons, integration of subject areas, and varied methods of assessment.
? Plan and lead district-wide, school-wide, and team-based professional learning activities related to evidence-based learning and assessment, specific curricular pedagogies, and high-leverage instructional practices.
? Support curriculum review cycle processes and implementation of new curricular resources, including measuring the impact of resources on student learning.
? Communicate information about access and usage of curricular resources with teachers and staff.
4. Professional Responsibilities
? Assist in the planning and coordination of special programs (e.g., Family Engagement Nights/STEM events)
? Lead professional development in specific curriculum initiatives (i.e., supporting math practice standards, creating proficiency tables for focus standards).
? Support the work of the collaborative teams accordingly within the PLC process.

? Provide recommendations for building principals, assistant principals, or the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for improvement of instruction at the building or district level relative to the curricula, field trips, or specific teacher assistance.
? Maintain awareness of current best practices by reading professional journals, participating in professional workshops and associations, sharing ideas, articles, and information about upcoming professional growth opportunities with colleagues. Present at local, regional, and national conferences as appropriate.
? Plan, coordinate and provide caregiver education programs and facilitate ongoing caregiver communication related to instructional programming in the District.
? Participate in school-wide initiatives, committees, and professional learning communities to ensure a continuum of services and promote a culture of excellence, equity, and continuous improvement.
? Represent District 31 at the Northfield Township articulations and associated planning meetings.
? Make presentations to the Board of Education and other groups as appropriate, regarding instructional programs.
? Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Curriculum and Instruction or designee.
? Communicate and collaborate with caregivers, building and district administration, and colleagues with regard to student services and progress
? Demonstrate professionalism in all areas by displaying integrity and ethical conduct in behavior, attire, and communications
? Arrive to work on time and demonstrate consistent attendance to ensure continuity of instruction

Qualifications

? Education/Licensure
? Master’s degree in education leadership, curriculum and instruction, or related field (Math or Science)
? Meets all current licensing requirements including endorsement(s) in the appropriate teaching areas, as determined by the Illinois State Board of Education
? Experience
? At least 5+ years of successful teaching experience in math or related field
? Proven leadership and decision-making abilities
? Proven skills in analyzing data for individual students, grade levels, as well as district-wide.
? Instructional Coaching experience preferred
? Knowledge
? Experience working with diverse populations or ESL Endorsement preferred
? Experience with curriculum design, instructional strategies, and assessment practices
? Experience with the PLC process
? Experience with evidence-based/standards-based learning and assessment
? Skills ? Successful teacher leadership that demonstrates professional qualities and strong interpersonal skills, including collaboration with classroom teachers
? Awareness of all District requirements, applicable laws, and Board of Education policies

Salary/Benefits

$50,000 - $90,000
