Duties
An English Language Learner (ELL) support teacher, also known as an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher, provides specialized instruction and support to students who are learning English as a new language. They focus on developing students' English language skills, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing, while also helping them access and understand content in other subjects
Qualifications
To become an ESL support teacher in Illinois, you'll need to gain an ESL endorsement on your existing Professional Educator License (PEL). This involves completing specific coursework and, in some cases, accumulating clinical experience.
Salary/Benefits
As per negotiated contract. The board pays the 9% TRS contribution on top of the teacher salary and provides single health insurance at no cost for its employees.
