Position Summary
The 4th Grade Teacher is responsible for providing rigorous, standards-based instruction while supporting the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs of all students. This role requires strong classroom management, relationship-building skills, and the ability to meet the diverse needs of learners
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Embrace and help grow the mission of Pleasant Valley which is to “engage, inspire, and empower each student towards academic excellence and citizenship”.
- Prepare students for increased academic expectations and independence as they transition to intermediate grades.
- Deliver standard-aligned instruction in core subject areas to promote student growth and achievement.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with IEPs, 504 plans, and carrying academic levels.
- Collaborate with special education staff to support student goals.
- Build and maintain positive, supportive relationships with students and families.
- Participate in RTI processes as applicable.
- Support students’ social-emotional development alongside academic growth.
- Prepare students for state and district assessments through aligned instruction and data-driven practices.
- Observe, assess and evaluate student performance. Identify when intervention may be needed.
- Utilize instructional technology to enhance student learning.
- Develop and enforce classroom rules.
- Maintain regular and proactive communication with families regarding student academic and behavioral progress.
- Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, and during both arrival and dismissal.
- Establish an appropriate, positive, inclusive and safe learning environment.
- Other duties as assigned by administration.
