Duties
We are looking for a qualified Special Education Teacher to lead our self-contained special education program at the elementary level. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing individualized instruction and support to students, managing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and collaborating with staff and families to ensure the best possible educational outcomes.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Develop and implement individualized educational programs (IEPs) tailored to the needs of each student.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with a range of educational and functional needs in a self-contained classroom setting.
- Assess students' skills and learning needs to create effective teaching plans and modify instruction as needed.
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as necessary to meet IEP goals.
- Serve as the case manager for students' IEPs, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to create a comprehensive support network for each student.
- Utilize positive behavioral interventions and supports to manage classroom behavior and create a safe, inclusive learning environment.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education.
Salary/Benefits
Salary and benefits are commensurate with the local collectively bargained contract.
