Pre-Kindergarten Teacher

Duties

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
  • Maintain a comprehensive and ongoing portfolio assessment for each child, including observations in each area, examples of work, and developmental evaluations.
  • Conduct home visits 
  • Assist in implementing children’s I.E.P, including paperwork compliance, data collection, progress monitoring, and goal reporting. 
  • Complete and submit required forms and records promptly
  • Assure student files are complete, accurate, and that confidentiality is maintained
  • Develops schemes of work, lesson plans, and tests that follow established procedures.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.  Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.  
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Maintain discipline by adhering to the school's rules and disciplinary systems.  Provide appropriate feedback on work.  
  • Encourage and monitor individual students' progress, using this information to adjust teaching strategies.   
  • Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies, and school regulations.  
  • Prepare required reports on students and activities.  
  • Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings.  
  • Communicate regularly to students, colleagues, and parents about student progress and needs.  
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.  
  • Prepare the classroom for class activities.  
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.  
  • Observe and evaluate students' performance and development.  
  • Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds.  
  • Encourage parent and community involvement, provide information to parents upon request, and promptly return phone calls and respond to emails.   
  • Participate in appropriate professional activities.

Qualifications

Qualifications: Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with Early Childhood Certification, with Early Childhood Special Education preferred.

Salary/Benefits

  • Salary placement schedule: Up to 20 years of experience, including out-of-state and private schools, is granted. Any raises are factored into placement salary after year 1. Placement Matrix for 26-27
  • Board paid TRS
  • $780 board contribution toward health insurance
  • 14 sick days, three personal days
  • Children can attend Maroa-Forsyth Schools even if they live outside the district, as long as the parent or guardian is a full-time employee
