Duties
- DIAGNOSTICIAN
- Reviews referral information and contacts appropriate personnel to obtain pertinent referral information.
- Evaluates students through observation, interview, formal and informal assessment.
- Schedules and participates in intake and other IEP meetings; as administrative designee when needed.
- Writes diagnostic reports and interprets assessment findings/recommendations at IEP meetings.
- Recommends adaptive materials, techniques and equipment to enhance students’ educational performance.
- Conducts inservices related to instructional programming as appropriate
- Maintains accurate records
- Consults/collaborates regularly with program staff regarding the instructional program and student performance
- Consults/collaborates with referring districts, agencies and other ECHO Programs
- Utilizes problem solving and conflict resolution techniques to support others in maintaining the objectives of the educational program.
- Maintains a current understanding of disabilities, including associated causes, effects on performance, resulting needs, and social/emotional implications
- Supports the ECHO program’s behavioral management program and participates in the de-escalation and physical restraint process as designated
- Attends necessary professional meetings, workshops, and/or classes to ensure continued growth and knowledge
- Supports the organization, management and implementation of the state assessments
- Inventories/maintains educational equipment, tools and curriculum materials and resources
- Exhibits ethical conduct
- Performs additional duties, as assigned by the Principal/designee for the Program.
Qualifications
- Illinois LBS1 Certificate or IL Certificate in the Specialty Area
- Working Knowledge of disabilities particularly in the Specialty Area
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the Specialty Area
- Knowledge in the area of diagnostics and program planning
- Where appropriate, ability to participate in physical management, and/or positioning of students weighing from approximately 50-200 pounds, with assistance when needed
