Duties

  • Plan and deliver engaging PE and Health Lessons that align with state standards.
  • Teach students about physical fitness, health, nutrition, substance abuse prevention, mental health, human anatomy, and other health-related topics.
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate physical activities that promote fitness, teamwork, and skill development.
  • Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles, abilities, and needs.
  • Evaluate student progress through formative and summative assessments, participation and fitness evaluations
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date grading records and communicate progress with the students and parents/guardians
  • Use assessment data to adjust instructin and provide additional support when needed.
  • Work with colleagues to integrate health and wellness topics across the curriculum
  • Manage, supervise and organize locker rooms, gymnasiums, and other athletic areas within the department.
  • Standards Based Grading is utilized to assess all students.
  • Stay current with educational trends, health guidelines, and best practices in physical and health education
  • Attend staff meetings, in-service trainings, and professional development workshops

Qualifications

1. Valid IL Teaching License with an endorsement in HS (9-12) Health, and PE or Driver Education

2. Bachelor’s Degree with major or minor in Physical Education/Health

3. Ability to manage an athletic training facility
