High School Science Teacher

Duties

  • Instruction: Deliver engaging, inquiry-based science lessons aligned with Illinois Learning Standards for Science.
  • Lab Skills: Design, organize, and safely execute hands-on laboratory experiments that reinforce core scientific concepts.
  • Differentiate Learning: Adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles, ensuring all students can thrive.
  • Assess & Track: Use formative and summative assessments to measure student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback.
  • Community Building: Maintain open communication with parents, and collaborate with department peers on curriculum mapping.
  • Safety: Maintain a safe, orderly, and well-managed classroom/laboratory environment adhering to standard safety protocols.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related scientific field.

  • Certification: Valid Illinois Teaching Credential/License for High School Science (Grade 9-12).

  • Experience: Previous high school teaching or student teaching experience is highly preferred.

  • Skills: Deep subject-matter expertise and a passion for the sciences.

    • Strong classroom management and relationship building skills.

 

 

Salary/Benefits

Salary & benefits are determined by the contract with the Rockridge Teachers' Association.
