Temporary Pre-K / Early Childhood Special Education Teacher APPLY ONLINE

Duties

  • Lesson Planning & Curriculum Implementation: Prepare detailed unit and lesson plans that implement the State of Illinois Learning Standards and Common Core Standards. Lesson and unit plans must be submitted electronically and maintained in a current, accessible manner for substitutes.
  • Instruction & Classroom Management: Responsible for classroom management, establishing clear standards of conduct, and maintaining a respectful learning environment. Manage transitions, routines, and physical space effectively to minimize lost instructional time.
  • Collaborative Learning Communities: Participate actively in Professional Learning Communities, collaborating with colleagues to enhance instruction and student achievement.
  • Parent & Family Communication: Communicate regularly and positively with families. Provide regular student progress updates through TeacherEase. Report individual matters involving student welfare, and notify parents/guardians when a student is in danger of earning a 'D' or 'F' grade.
  • Professionalism & Conduct: Adhere to the professional expectations of Leland CUSD #1. This includes dressing professionally when students are present, following the established chain of command, and actively supervising students to ensure they are never left unattended.

Qualifications

  • Professional Educator License (PEL) endorsed in Early Childhood Education (Self-Contained General Education age 0-9).
  • Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) approval or Special Education endorsement is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of early childhood development, positive behavioral interventions, and co-teaching strategies.
  • Proficiency in electronic record-keeping and parent communications
  • Highest standards of ethical and professional conduct as outlined by the Illinois Educator Code of Ethics.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team including school psychologists, speech-language pathologists, and administrators.

Based on the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) Salary Schedule

This is to fill a temporary leave of absence. The end date is currently unknown.
