School Nutrition Program Coordinator

Duties

  • Oversee all aspects of the National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs at Cook County School District 104.
  • Coordinate meal services with food service management company or vendor providing meal services
  • Provide applications for meal benefits to each household and approve and/or deny applications for meal benefits under the National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs.
  • Establish a system for placing breakfast/lunch orders and ensure that all monies received are handled in a manner to prevent loss.
  • Take meal counts at point of service, conduct a monthly edit of meal counts, and submit claims for reimbursement to the CCSD104 Central Office.
  • Assist in the monitoring and review of breakfast and lunch program procedures in order to maintain compliance with the National School Breakfast and Lunch Program guidelines.
  • Plan menus, prepare meals based on approved standardized recipes, and portion foods according to Federal and State guidelines.
  • Determine production quantities and compile and place food orders and supplies from vendors approved by CCSD104.
  • Produce adequate quantities of products and complete daily production reports.
  • Put into operation accommodation for children with special dietary needs.
  • Always follow safe and sanitary food handling procedures.
  • Ensure that food service equipment is maintained to meet the needs of the operation, with budgetary guidelines.
  • Implement and monitor safety policies and procedures.
  • Supervise the utilization of computer technology in the operation of the cafeteria.
  • Operate within the established budget.
  • Maintain necessary files and records.
  • Responsible for planning, preparation, service costing, and billing of food for special school sponsored activities.
  • Supervise Food Staff to ensure that procedures for maintaining high standards of sanitation and hygiene in the storage, preparation, and service of food are followed.
  • Develops employee daily workload, defining specific tasks for each employee.
  • In collaboration with the director/superintendent, monitors and recommends staffing level for school food service.
  • Implement and present training to school food service personnel by approved standards, methods, and procedures
  • All other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Must have current Food Handling/Food Service Certification (ANSI accredited)
  • Thorough knowledge of quantity food service, food preparation methods and operation of food service equipment

Salary/Benefits

  • Starting salary: $50,000 annually. Salary may be adjusted based on the selected candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

  • The selected candidate will be required to successfully complete all pre-employment screenings and background checks, as required by District policy and applicable law.
  • Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Hours may vary based on District operational needs.
