Duties
The Grant Accountant is responsible for establishing budgets and accounts, recording, monitoring grant budgets and accounts, reporting, preparing claims and billings and providing financial compliance for all grants.
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer of the District.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Balances reports for receipts, budget transfers, account changes, etc.
- Prepares all deposits.
- Assists grant managers with grant reviews to include: proper accounting coding, classifications, regulations for budget/cash flow compliance and claim schedule.
- Establishes and maintains grant financial `files to include grant period, grant rules and requirements, grant checklist, forms, reports/claims and approval letters.
- File copy of grant rules;
- Develop and maintain checklists for grants; and
- remind grant managers to establish accounts.
- Establishes and maintains all required grant accounts, monitors, grant budgets and accounts. Prepares grant applications with grant managers & building principals. Initiates grant amendments as required and approved by grant managers.
- Provides grant managers with financial grant requirements, monthly/periodic financial reports, required adjustment journal entries, miscellaneous adjustments and budget transfers.
- Completes claim forms and submits with consultation from appropriate grant manager. reconcile all claims and reports to the general ledger and provide audit schedule and work papers as required.
- Provides data management for fixed assets records.
- Provides filing and completes reports for quarterly Administrative Outreach claims.
- Provides backup duties for district accountant & assists with the month end close process.
- Assist with annual audit & all grant audits.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Requires a high level of demonstrated accounting, communication and organizational skills. Requires general ability to work closely and cooperatively with grant managers, Business Office, Educational Technology Department, and other district and central office staff. Must possess strengths in accountability and time management skills. Must be proficient with spreadsheet application. Requires a high degree of confidentiality.
Education: -High School education or equivalent.
-Bachelor's degree in business or accounting preferred.
Experience: -One to three years of related accounting experience required.
Special Skills:
- Word Processing/spreadsheet experience and overall computer knowledge required.
- Accurate math skills, records management and filing skills required.
- Ability to work well with individuals at all levels of the organizations.
- Ability to function in a multi-task environment with frequent interruptions.

Salary/Benefits

Salary: starting at $75,000. based on experience.
