Duties
Reporting to a Supervisor, the IEP technical assistance center consultant partners with the state special education department, school districts, and educators to improve outcomes for students with disabilities. They build system capacity by delivering professional development, ensuring legal compliance (IDEA), and mentoring teams on individualized education program (IEP) implementation, transition planning, and specialized instruction.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborates across the special education department and Agency to design and deliver professional development workshops.
- Researches evidence based resources on Individual Education Programs (IEP) development and best practices in teaching diverse learners.
- Participates in the creation of guidance material and corrective action planning to support district compliance.
- Creates and translates complex special education research into accessible, practical guides and resources for educators and families.
- Creates programming for new special education teacher support.
- Works with technology to help establish and create a state-wide learning platform for diverse learners.
- Advises district administrators and special education teachers on effective IEP development, positive behavior strategies, and inclusive practices.
- Collaborates with state and national stakeholders to stay current and improve processes in our state.
- Reviews IEPs and school programs to ensure adherence to state and federal regulations, identifying areas for corrective action.
- Collaborates as a work partner with the cyclical monitoring team to help districts establish sustainable district policies and procedures aligned with state and federal rules and regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary/Benefits
Department: Special Education
Anticipated Starting Salary Range: $62,449 - $78,917
Full Salary Range: $62,449 - $106,278
Office Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
