Duties
Morris Community High School is seeking applicants for the Athletic Director position for the 2027-2028 school year. This position is available due to the current director's retirement in June 2027. This is a 12-month position with an official start date of July 1, 2027.
Morris Community High School's athletic programs are extremely successful and have high levels of student engagement and support. The Athletic Director provides leadership and direction of the high school's athletic programs with responsibilities that include compliance and safety; recommending coaching staff for employment, retention, or dismissal; scheduling and supervising events; coordinating officials and event workers; coordinating facility usage and transportation; budgeting and inventory; community relations; and other duties as assigned.
The Athletic Director may not be concurrently employed as a coach.
Qualifications
Candidates must have a Professional Educator License with a General Administrative, Principal, or Leadership endorsement, as well as teaching and coaching experience at the high school level. Alternatives to these qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate will also be considered.
Salary/Benefits
The anticipated salary range for this position is $90,000 to $115,000 based on the candidate's qualifications and experience. This 12-month position also includes 20 vacation days, 15 sick days, 2 personal days, and insurance benefits in alignment with the teachers' collective bargaining agreement. Currently, that includes $14,100 toward health insurance with at least single coverage required and any remaining balance paid as salary.
Additional Notes
Morris Community High School is currently undergoing a major construction project, including the addition and renovation of most classrooms, offices, cafeteria, media center, and other spaces. This project will greatly modernize the teaching and learning environment and is expected to be completed in 2029. In addition, MCHS has recently completed several capital improvement projects including stadium, gym, and fieldhouse upgrades.
