Duties

Essential Duties

Under the general supervision of the Superintendent, to administer and maintain the functions and operations of the school district's Information Technology Systems and activities by integrating beneficial technology into the educational process, assessing the effectiveness of the school district's technology infrastructure and security, providing recommendations regarding application and hardware additions or changes, and working to maintain optimal functioning of the district’s technology systems. 

  • Oversees and manages the school district's Information Technology Systems and technology activities, including administering the District Technology Plan.
  • Assesses malfunctions of hardware and/or software for the purpose of determining appropriate actions to maintain computer and network operations, filtering applications, security protocols, and authorized use.
  • Manages the development of the school district networks for the purpose of ensuring the efficient growth and development of productivity.
  • Works with classroom technology applications in various content areas.
  • Develops school district Information Technology procedures and revises as necessary to ensure internal and external quality controls.
  • Provides leadership and technical support for the purpose of designing, developing, and maintaining an efficient and effective technology system.
  • Engages in troubleshooting and problem solving to diagnose problems with the school district's network systems, hardware, software, and takes corrective action.
  • Researches hardware, subscriptions, applications, vendors, consultants, and current technologies to remain knowledgeable on trends, to understand the scope of available options, and recommend necessary applications and purchases.
  • Handles all questions from employees regarding the use of the school district's technology systems and applications to resolve issues and promote effective use.
  • Maintains and ensures the safety and reliability of key District data.
  • Compiles records relating to the inventory, repair, and use of school district technology equipment.
  • Composes or generates a variety of materials (e.g., reports, memos, letters, manuals, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, training, providing written reference and/or conveying information regarding the status of projects, etc.
  • Recommends policies, procedures, and actions pertaining to the school district's technology systems which will advance the school district’s goals.
  • Ensures that mandated data privacy policies are implemented throughout the district.
  • Coordinates and verifies safety protocols with contracted technology service providers.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • School and/or district-level experience preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience (preferred) in information technology

Salary/Benefits

  • $80,000 - $110,000

Additional Notes

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Thorough knowledge of, and the ability to use Google Workspace tools, Google Admin Console, Microsoft Office, and several other District applications.
    • Knowledge of PC, MAC, Chromebook and iPad hardware and applications.
    • Knowledge of sound practices in network troubleshooting.
    • Ability to problem-solve and prioritize a variety of support questions and user needs originating from multiple communication channels.
    • Substantial organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.
    • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form, and to work with minimum supervision.
    • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
    • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of school district financial data and other sensitive information.
