Duties

Rutland Grade School is seeking applications for a First Grade Long-Term Substitute Teacher to cover a maternity leave. Candidates will be responsible for assuming all duties of the regular classroom teacher, including classroom instruction, classroom management, and communicating with students, parents, and staff members. This position is anticipated to begin around early December, 2026 and ending date early March, 2027.

Qualifications

• Substitute Teacher Credentials
• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field from an accredited college or university.
• Valid teaching certification/license for the state of Illinois.
• Experience teaching at the elementary level.
• Knowledge of curriculum and instructional best practices.
• Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
• Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt to an existing classroom environment and a new school culture.

Salary/Benefits

First two weeks current substitute rate. After the two weeks, per the current teacher salary schedule.
