Junior High Special Education Teacher

Duties

Responsible for providing special education services to students with disabilities in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Duties include planning and delivering instruction, developing and implementing IEPs, monitoring student progress, maintaining required records, collaborating with general education teachers and related service providers, supervising paraprofessionals, communicating with parents, participating in multidisciplinary and IEP meetings, and maintaining a positive, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

 

  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) required.
  • Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS1) endorsement required.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and IEP development.
  • Ability to implement accommodations and modifications for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, parents, administrators, paraprofessionals, and multidisciplinary teams.

 

Salary/Benefits

Salary and benefits in accordance with the Professional Negotiated Agreement between the Board of Education of School District 143 and the Educators' Association of School District 143.
