Duties

The Junior High Math Teacher is responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing standards-based mathematics instruction for students in grades 7–8. The teacher creates a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment that promotes academic achievement, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills while supporting students' social and emotional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education, mathematics, or a related field.
• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL).
• Middle Grades Mathematics endorsement (Grades 5–8) or another appropriate mathematics teaching endorsement as required by the assignment. Illinois requires a subject-specific middle grades endorsement for teachers in grades 5–8.
• Completion of an Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE)-approved educator preparation program.
• Completion of the required mathematics coursework (typically at least 18 semester hours in mathematics, including middle grades mathematics methods coursework) for the endorsement.
