Duties

Manteno Middle School is seeking a passionate and dedicated 8th Grade Math Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will create a supportive and engaging classroom environment that fosters academic growth, critical thinking, and college and career readiness within their assigned content area. This role involves planning and delivering instruction aligned with curriculum standards, assessing student progress, and collaborating with colleagues, families, and staff to support student success.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons within the assigned content area
• Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports all learners
• Assess student progress regularly and adjust instruction accordingly
• Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance
• Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and needs
• Collaborate with content-area teams, specialists, and support staff
• Coordinate with special education staff and co-teachers, as needed, to support diverse learners
• Implement classroom management strategies that promote respect and responsibility
• Participate in professional development opportunities and school activities
• Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with district policies and procedures
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality of student, family, and staff information
• Work collaboratively with co-workers and school staff
• Support students’ academic, social, and emotional growth
• Uphold school policies, procedures, and educational standards
• Perform other duties as assigned by Administration

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field aligned to the content area
• Valid state teaching certification for assigned content area (6-8)
• • Note: Schools/Districts with a competency based model may engage in hiring non-licensed instructors who deliver quality instruction in partnership with properly licensed staff. Unlicensed personnel must have work experience in a related field, a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and a substitute teaching license.
• Demonstrated knowledge of subject matter and instructional best practices
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
• Proficiency with educational technology and digital learning tools
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment
• Prior teaching or student teaching experience at the secondary level preferred

Salary/Benefits

• Salary and benefits will be based on the negotiated MEA Contract
• Extracurricular positions may be available
