Duties
Ladd School is seeking a dynamic early childhood educator to run our Preschool For All funded program. Candidates must have strong organizational and communication skills. Must be self-motivated and be able to work independently as well as within a team. Candidates should be well versed in early childhood development and programming and have a passion for educating young minds. Understanding of the Preschool For All grant requirements preferred but not required.
Essential Functions
• Implement district goals in a classroom environment which promotes learning, social and emotional development
• Support students with the mastery of grade level objectives
• Provide a physically and emotionally safe learning environment for students
• Promote student self esteem
• Establish positive rapport with students
• Build student leadership skills
• Establish effective communication with parents, the principal and other staff members
• Foster teamwork among students and with colleagues
Performance Standards
Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment
• Create lesson plans designed to support mastery of grade level objectives
• Deliver high quality instruction using best practices
• Create learning materials for students
• Administer student assessment
• Collect, analyze and evaluate student proficiency based on assessment data
• Teach, implement and sustain a positive behavioral environment
• Encourage positive peer relationships and individual development of social skills
• Supervise and monitor student behavior
Job Specific Professional Responsibilities
• Establish effective management procedures for the use of materials and supplies
• Accurately complete student records and reports
• Participate in meetings about students
• Maintain student permanent records
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
• Notify appropriate person of concerns about room or equipment
• Promote appropriate student technology use
• Be a contributing member of the school community (collaboration with colleagues, students, parents, community members and administration)
• Participate in school-community functions
• Encourage parent support of and involvement in school programs
• Communicate with parents to discuss students’ progress
• Participate cooperatively with administrator in the teacher evaluation procedures
• Participate in staff development, faculty meetings, committees and other school activities
• Collaborate with support staff to ensure appropriate support for students
• Use support services appropriately and effectively
• Maintain professionalism
• Adhere to policies, rules and regulations
• Perform other educational duties as assigned by the building or district administration
Qualifications
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License in Early Childhood Education. Early Childhood Special Education Endorsement preferred but not required.
