Duties

DUTIES

  1. Prepare instructional materials, activities, and written lesson plans in conjunction with the regular classroom teacher.
  1. Continue class activities in an orderly manner by maintaining classroom behavior, discipline, and management.
  2. Assume all special duties of the regular classroom teacher (hall duty, playground duty, bus duty, etc.).
  3. Assume grading procedures and student evaluations as initiated by the regular teacher.
  4. Responsible for submitting all required building and District classroom reports.
  5. Counsel students regarding their performance.
  6. Confer with parents as needed.
  1. Inform the building principal of any special needs or problems.
  1. Assign classwork and homework as necessary, according to lesson plans.
  2. Modify teaching styles to fit the learning styles of various students.
  3. Maintain a well-managed classroom and positive learning environment.
  4. Create a classroom that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  5. Maintain a safe and orderly environment.
  6. Maintain established routine of the school and classroom procedures in which assigned.
  7. Maintain a professional appearance as an example to students.
  8. Remain at school the entire school day, unless otherwise instructed to leave by building principal.
  9. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  10. Maintain reasonable rules of conduct which encourage self-discipline and responsibility.
  11. Communicate effectively with parents when needed and attend parent-teacher conferences.
  12. Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and times designated.
  13. Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Hold a valid Substitute Teaching License for the appropriate County in IL.
  2. Must be familiar with the use of computers including but not limited to electronic mail, the Internet, word processing, and electronic spreadsheets (Microsoft Office).
  3. Establish and maintain effective and courteous working relationships with those contacted in the course of work (students, parents, and staff).
  4. Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions.
  5. Ability to communicate with students, parents and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner
  6. Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
  7. Ability to push/pull up to 10 lbs.

Salary/Benefits

$24/hr unless the applicant has a teaching PEL (step 1 on teacher salary scale). Full-Time staff are given 15 sick days, 3 personal days per year, as well as board contribution towards health insurance, training, supports, and more. Please contact Bobbi Fisher for more information.

Additional Notes

Hours worked are 8:00-4:00 (7.5 hours paid). Assignment may vary
