Complaint Investigator (Principal Consultant #1627)

Duties

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conducts complaint investigations and provides technical assistance to other program staff to ensure consistency in the interpretation and application of federal and state requirements for special education services. 
  • Assists with the implementation of the complaint investigation system, the development of necessary processes and procedures for investigating complaints, maintenance of documentation necessary for federal compliance and other administrative functions necessary to carry out the state and federal requirements, and conducting training for new complaint investigators.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of systems and projects in order to meet the board goals and provide supports to districts and schools regarding special education services.
  • Participates in the departments regulatory functions of general supervision and serves as an Agency representative and provides technical assistance regarding collection and reporting of data including the development and implementation of activities associated with the State Performance Plan and Board goals. 
  • Serves as the Agency representative and provides technical assistance regarding IEP forms.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Master's degree or higher in Special Education, Pupil Personnel Services (School Counselor, School Psychologist, School Social Worker), or related services, or, a Bachelor's degree in one of these areas plus two years of relevant professional experience. (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)
  • Five years of experience providing special education, pupil personnel services and/or related services to students with disabilities in public schools.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding students with disabilities.
  • Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.
  • Working knowledge of procedural safeguards for students with disabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience providing special education, pupil personnel services and/or related services to students with disabilities in both elementary and secondary schools.
  • Experience working with students from diverse social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Experience in a variety of educational settings.
  • Knowledge of methods, practices and procedures for serving students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment.
  • Knowledge of practices and procedures for serving students with disabilities from diverse social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to perform technical writing.

Anticipated Starting Salary Range: $64,322 - $81,284
Full Salary Range: $64,322 - $109,467
Office Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
