Position Summary
The 6th–8th Grade Math and Science Teacher is responsible for providing engaging, standards-based instruction that promotes student achievement and growth in mathematics and science. The successful candidate will create a positive learning environment, utilize innovative instructional practices, and collaborate with colleagues, families, and the community to support student success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instruction and Learning
- Plan and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction in middle school mathematics and science.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, technology, and hands-on learning opportunities to engage students.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
- Monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments and use data to guide instruction.
- Foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and inquiry-based learning.
Classroom Environment
- Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, and positive classroom culture.
- Promote student responsibility, collaboration, and academic excellence.
- Implement effective classroom management practices that support student learning.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, interventionists, special education staff, and administration.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and guardians regarding academic progress and student needs.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences, team meetings, and school improvement initiatives.
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain compliance with district policies, state requirements, and professional standards.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and continuous improvement.
- Contribute positively to the culture and mission of Tonica Grade School.
