Function / Position Summary

The Director of the Iroquois Area Regional Delivery System provides strategic leadership in the development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of Career and Technical Education programming across the region. This role ensures alignment with regional strategic priorities, Postsecondary and Career Expectations (PaCE) framework, College and Career Pathway Endorsements (CCPE), state and federal guidelines, and industry standards.

The Director works collaboratively with teaching and learning staff, school leaders, postsecondary partners, industry representatives, and community stakeholders to expand equitable access to high-quality CTE pathways and curriculum, increase industry credential attainment, and promote college and career readiness for all students.

Job Duties / Responsibilities

Curriculum, Instruction, and Program Development

  • Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing revision of vertically aligned, standards-based CTE curriculum across all pathways.
  • Ensure curriculum alignment to Illinois Learning Standards, industry standards, dual credit expectations, and district instructional frameworks.
  • Establish clear expectations for authentic learning experiences that integrate academic and technical content.
  • Analyze student performance data to guide CTE curriculum adjustments, instructional refinement, and equitable outcomes across schools and subgroups.
  • Support culturally and linguistically responsive instructional practices that promote CTE access and success for all students.
  • Serve as the regional resource on national and Illinois trends, research, and best practices in Career and Technical Education.

Professional Learning and Staff Support

  • Facilitate access to CTE professional development aligned to curriculum implementation and instructional best practices.
  • Provide ongoing instructional support to CTE teachers, including classroom observations, feedback, and collaborative planning.
  • Develop onboarding structures and mentorship supports for new CTE educators to ensure effective curriculum implementation.

Industry Credentials and Postsecondary Partnerships

  • Implement processes to promote student credential attainment, and pathway completion.
  • Lead program evaluation processes to ensure high-quality instructional experiences and alignment to workforce and postsecondary expectations.
  • Support expansion and refinement of industry-recognized credential opportunities that are instructionally embedded and aligned to curriculum.

Work-Based Learning and Career Exploration

  • Support work-based learning experiences that are instructionally connected to curriculum and learning standards.
  • Support teachers in designing authentic, project-based, and experiential learning opportunities tied to pathway competencies.
  • Promote structured career exploration experiences that align with classroom instruction and student pathway development.

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Collaborate with school administrators to ensure strong implementation of CTE curriculum and instructional expectations.
  • Participate in district and regional committees aligned to curriculum cycles and strategic initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Grant Administration

  • Oversee the administration of CTE grants including Carl Perkins and Career and Technical Education Improvement (CTEI) grants for member schools.
  • Manage additional grants as they come available.
  • Oversee Comprehensive Local Needs Assessments reporting.
  • Maintain the Illinois State Course System for member schools CTE programs
  • Perform timely reporting as required by ISBE programs. 

Qualifications

  • Professional Educator License (PEL) with a General Administrative or Principal endorsement.
  • Advanced formal training in one (1) area of Career and Technical education, teaching experience, and/or 2,000 work experience in a vocation field.

Salary/Benefits

The salary range for this position is regionally competitive.  ($95,000-$110,000 base salary expected)

Experience / Knowledge

  • Experience leading standards-aligned CTE curriculum development, assessment design, and instructional improvement across multiple pathways.
  • Strong knowledge of Illinois Learning Standards, industry-recognized credentials, dual credit expectations, and workforce-aligned program evaluation.
  • Proven leadership in integrating work-based learning, career exploration, and postsecondary partnerships into cohesive, high-quality instructional programs.
