Duties
Rochelle Middle School is seeking a student-centered 8th Grade Spanish Language Arts teacher who is passionate about developing bilingual and biliterate students. The ideal candidate fosters strong relationships, creates an inclusive classroom environment, and supports diverse learners while building Spanish language proficiency. This role also incorporates teaching dual language study skills, with a focus on strengthening students’ abilities in reading, writing, speaking, and listening in Spanish.
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned Spanish Language Arts instruction within a dual language framework.
- Develop students’ Spanish literacy skills, including reading comprehension, writing, speaking, and listening.
- Integrate explicit instruction in dual language study skills to support bilingual development and academic success.
- Use assessment data in both languages to guide instruction and monitor student progress.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including English learners and students with IEPs.
- Create a positive and culturally responsive classroom environment with clear expectations and routines.
- Collaborate with grade-level and bilingual teams and communicate regularly with families in a culturally responsive manner.
Qualifications
Valid Illinois PEL with appropriate endorsement (Spanish or Bilingual Education preferred, 6–8 or 5–8).
Strong knowledge of Spanish Language Arts standards, dual language instruction, and effective bilingual teaching practices.
