High School Assistant Principal

Duties

  1. Will formally evaluate the in-class performance of assigned teachers in accordance with the negotiated agreement and confer and consult with them regarding their performance and professional development.
  2. Will supervise and assist teachers through classroom visits, personal conference(s), and when appropriate, provide written reports of both positive and negative observations.
  3. Will provide the Principal with a written recommendation regarding the selection, retention, or dismissal of all assigned teachers.
  4. Will plan, organize, and preside over department meetings on a regularly scheduled basis.
  5. Will approve and maintain a file on all semester examinations of courses of teachers assigned for evaluation.
  6. Will provide input on the teaching assignment of teachers to the Principal
  7. Will maintain an up-to-date inventory of instructional materials and equipment.
  8. At the conclusion of each year, will collect and evaluate teachers' yearly plan books. The evaluation is to be in a form prescribed by the Superintendent and/or his or her designee.
  9. Will assist the Principal in the development of all curricular area's supply and capital outlay budgets.
  10. Will assist the Principal in approval all requisitions.
  11. Will assist the Principal with substitute teachers and will relay lesson plans of absent teachers to substitute teachers and provide substitutes with necessary help.
  12. Will assist in the supervision of all off-campus instructional programs instructors.
  13. Will be responsible for maintaining the complete school calendar at the building level.
  14. Will be responsible for approving all fundraising activities at the building level. Will be responsible for supervising graduation at the building level.
  15. Will assist the Principal in the completion of appropriate end of the year reports.
  16. Will attend Board of Education meetings as necessary.
  17. Will perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
  18.  Will supervise the daily routine and operation of the school.
  19. Will develop, publicize, and implement student discipline policies, after Board of Education approval, to effect positive student behavior and learning climate in the school, extra-curricular activities, and at co-curricular activities.
  20. Will administer discipline to students following adopted rules, regulations, and policies, maintaining accurate records of all disciplinary action procedures.
  21. Will make recommendations for appropriate revisions of policies and rules affecting the student's life in school.
  22. Will supervise attendance accounting procedures and provide leadership in developing related practices.
  23. Will work with various community and government agencies on student problems relating to conduct, drug/alcohol abuse, truancy, pregnancy, etc.
  24. Will provide guidance and counseling to students, parents, and teachers on problems relating to student behavior, attendance, and general welfare.
  25. Will recommend practices designed to maintain safe, healthful school facilities.
  26. Will work with counselors, school social workers, local law enforcement, and teachers in areas of pupil personnel services.
  27. Will assist in the orientation of new students and staff members.
  28. Will participate in the development and implementation of school practices.
  29. Will work with the Principal and Assistant Principal in coordinating, supervising, and evaluating pertinent office personnel.
  30. Will interview all transfer students and students seeking readmission, to determine their eligibility to attend Herscher Community Unit School District #2.
  31. Will assist the Superintendent and Athletic Director in attending and supervising all assigned school activities.
  32. Will be responsible for the preparation and storage of materials student disciplinary hearings.
  33. Will be responsible for attending hearings and presenting materials to the Board of Education for student disciplinary hearings.
  34. Is responsible for making the recommendations to the Superintendent on dropping or expelling students with poor school attendance.
  35. Will have the full responsibility regarding student discipline and student attendance and will assist the Superintendent and all administrative personnel on the classroom management portion of the evaluation of teachers in these areas.
  36. Will work with and assign other supervisors during lunch hour.
  37. Will be responsible for the coordination of Wednesday detention.
  38. Will be responsible for the coordination of Saturday detention.
  39. Will supervise and attend assigned home and away extra-curricular events.
  40. Will be responsible for scheduling and coordinating the annual Bus Evacuation Drill and submitting the required documentation.
  41. Is responsible for the locker and padlock assignments and all concerns associated with lockers and padlocks.
  42. Will attend Board of Education meetings as necessary.
  43. Will perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.

Qualifications

Valid IL teaching license.

Salary/Benefits

$60,000-$85,000
