Duties
Northeast Junior High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Full-Time Guest Teacher. This role is essential in providing a supportive and engaging learning environment for our students during the absence of regular classroom teachers. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, adaptability, and a commitment to fostering a positive educational experience for all students.
- Deliver instructional lessons and activities as outlined in lesson plans provided by the regular teacher.
- Maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively and implement school-wide behavior policies.
- Assess student understanding and provide feedback to support their academic growth.
- Collaborate with school staff to ensure continuity of instruction and student support.
- Communicate with parents and guardians as needed regarding student progress and behavior.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and staff meetings as required.
- Uphold school policies and procedures, including attendance and record-keeping.
- Assist in the supervision of students during lunch, recess, and other non-instructional periods.
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field preferred.
- Valid IL teaching license or IL Standard Substitute Teacher license (not short-term) is required.
- Previous experience working with middle school students is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to engage students and create a dynamic learning environment.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing classroom situations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to professional development and continuous improvement in teaching practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively with school staff and administration.
- Background check and other employment requirements as mandated by state law.
Salary/Benefits
This is a full-time equivalent position. The base salary for a 1.0 full-time position is $48,205. 5 sick days and 1 personal day per year.
