Duties
1. Demonstrates knowledge of content and pedagogy.
2. Demonstrates knowledge of child growth and development, especially of
characteristics of students/children in the age group assigned.
3. Tracks and analyzes student-related data in order to determine course of action, sets
goals, and implements strategies resulting in academic achievement.
4. Designs coherent instruction based on district learning targets/initiatives and student
data.
5. Designs and administers formative and summative assessments that measure student
performance based on established learning targets.
6. Effectively and strategically implements instructional technology into the classroom.
7. Ensures students have appropriate resources to perform various tasks required in the
classroom.
8. Creates an environment of respect and rapport.
9. Establishes a culture for learning.
10. Manages classroom procedures that support learning.
11. Establishes standards and manages pupil behavior in order to achieve a safe and
functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
12. Organizes the physical environment so as to promote learning.
13. Communicates effectively with students.
14. Uses appropriate questioning and discussion techniques.
15. Engages students in learning.
16. Exhibits strong knowledge in culturally responsive teaching.
17. Utilizes knowledge of instruction, relevant curriculum, and strategies leading to success
for students not meeting grade level standards.
18. Uses assessment information to drive instructional decision-making.
19. Demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness.
20. Reflects on teaching for the purpose of growth and improvement.
21. Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares
progress reports.
22. Communicates effectively with families in a timely manner on issues of student needs,
goals, and growth.
23. Participates in a professional learning community by attending meeting and
committees, as needed.
24. Builds positive working relationships with colleagues.
25. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities and selfselected professional growth activities.
26. Demonstrates professionalism in behavior and dress.
27. Reports to work regularly with infrequent absences (with the exception of such
days/leaves approved by the Board.
28. Assumes responsibility for other duties as may be assigned
Qualifications
1. Appropriately licensed/certified by the Illinois State Board of Education (Gen Ed K-9
preferred)
2. Bachelor’s Degree
3. Completion of required student teaching program
4. Ability to work successfully with diverse populations
5. Competence in the use of technology, diagnostic tools, and other instructional
materials
6. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
7. Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to swiftly and
accurately understand complex data and perform analysis.
8. Positive attitude and excellent work ethic/organizational skills
9. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others
10. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
11. High level of professionalism and ethics
12. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and
acceptable
