Elementary School Principal (Anticipated)

Duties

  1. Be responsible for the administration of the specified school and all facets of its instructional program, including extracurricular activities, supervision of all certified staff, and providing leadership in establishing expectations for student attendance, conduct, and learning performance.
  2. Coordinate efforts to create and implement a vision for the school and define desired results and goals that align with the overall school vision and lead to student improvement for all learners.
  3. Ensure that the school’s identity, vision, and mission drive school
  4. Conduct difficult but crucial conversations with individuals, teams, and staff based on student performance data in a timely manner for the purpose of enhancing student learning and results.
  5. Develop, implement, and monitor the outcomes of the school improvement plan and school-wide student achievement data results to improve student achievement.
  6. Responsible for the implementation and observance of all Board policies and regulations by the school’s staff and students.
  7. Create a safe, clean, and orderly learning environment
  8. Work with staff to develop a consistent framework for effective teaching and learning that includes a rigorous and relevant standards- based curriculum, research-based instructional practices, and high expectations for student performance.
  9. Conduct staff meetings to keep staff members informed of policy changes, new programs, etc.
  10. Establish schedules and procedures for the supervision of students in non-classroom areas (including before and after school).
  11. Create a continuous improvement cycle that uses multiple forms of data and student work samples to support individual, team, and school-wide improvement goals, identify and address areas of improvement and celebrate successes.
  12. Establish guidelines and maintain high standards for proper student conduct and maintaining student discipline.
  13. Evaluate the effectiveness of instruction and of individual teachers by conducting frequent formal and informal observations providing timely feedback on instruction.
  14. Observe the personal appearance, professionalism, and time on task of all employees in the school building.
  15. Create, develop, and sustain relationships that result in active student engagement in the learning
  16. Utilize meaningful feedback from students, staff, families, and the community in the evaluation of instructional
  17. Proactively engage families and the community in supporting their child’s learning and the school’s learning
  18. Create and support a climate that values, accepts, and understands diversity in culture and point of
  19. Build a culture of high aspirations and achievement for every
  20. Plans and supervises safety drills and emergency preparedness
  21. Keeps the Superintendent informed of the school’s activities and
  22. Makes recommendations concerning the school’s administration and
  23. Maintains and controls the various local funds generated by student
  24. Develops and approves the master teaching schedule and any special
  25. Collaborates with the Superintendent and/or the Superintendent’s designee on preparing and managing the school
  26. Establish procedures for safe storing and integrity of all public and confidential school records.
  27. Protect confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising professional duties and use discretion in sharing such information within legal confines.
  28. Attend required committee meetings, special events for student achievement, school sponsored activities, functions, and athletic events.
  29. Establish procedures that create and maintain attractive, organized, functional, healthy, clean, and safe facilities, with proper attention to the visual, acoustic and temperature.
  30. Work with administrative staff on issues that arise, such as transportation, special services, etc.
  31. Supervises all extra-curricular activities, enforces the physical and academic requirement of eligibility for participation in each activity, and verifies each participant’s eligibility.
  32. Prepare or supervise the preparation of reports, records, lists, and all other paperwork required for the school’s administration.
  33. Delegate authority to responsible personnel to assume responsibility for the school in the absence of the principal.
  34. Other duties or responsibilities as may be reasonably and lawfully assigned in accordance with the negotiated agreement, School Code of Illinois, Board policy, or the Superintendent.

 

Qualifications

  1. State of IL General Administrative License.
  2. Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, Curriculum, or School Administration.
  3. Minimum two years of full-time teaching experience with a valid IL Teaching License.
  4. Experience in leadership roles.
  5. Knowledge of Business Office Programs, including word processing, spreadsheets, slides, etc.
  6. Establish and maintain effective and courteous working relationships with those contacted in the course of work (students, parents and staff).
  7. Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions.
  8. Ability to communicate to students, parents and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner.
  9. Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
  10. Ability to push and pull up to 10 lbs.

Salary/Benefits

Salary:

Compensation for this position will be determined based on qualifications, credentials, and relevant experience. The anticipated salary range for this position is $80,000-$90,000 annually.
