Dean of Students - Middletown Prairie Elementary

Duties

Mahomet-Seymour CUSD #3 is currently accepting applications for the position of Dean of Students at Middletown Prairie Elementary.  The Dean of Students will work closely with building administration, teachers, families, and support staff to foster a positive school climate, support student behavior and attendance, and promote a safe and supportive learning environment.  This is a 185 day position that will begin on August 3, 2026 for the 2026-2027 school year.  

Anticipated Timeline: 
Application Deadline: June 1, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. 
Interviews will be conducted on June 3rd and June 4th of 2026
Anticipated Board Approval: June 15, 2026
Start Date: August 3, 2026

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the principal in the overall administration of the school; interpret and uphold school and Board of Education policies, along with school procedures.
  • Assist with building operations including: coordinating transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other school support services; conducts safety inspections and drills as required.
  • Assist in the reporting and monitoring of student attendance and discipline.
  • Assist the principal in the continuing journey of transforming the school culture into a results-oriented collaborative learning community.
  • Serve as principal in the absence of the principal and assistant principal.
  • Evaluate assigned personnel for the purpose of ensuring that standards are achieved and performance is maximized.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of a systematic method of supervising the instructional program through the use of learning walks, observations, documentations, and follow-up conferences.
  • Assist teachers in evaluation methods and materials and developing effective learning plans and classroom management techniques.
  • Assist with coordination of assessments.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) required.
  • Illinois Principal Endorsement or Illinois Professional Educator License with General Administrative endorsement required.
  • Elementary teaching and/or administration experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with elementary-aged students is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with students and families.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm, flexible, and student-focused in challenging situations.
  • Knowledge of behavior supports, restorative practices, and student interventions preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • The ideal candidate should be self-driven, motivated, trustworthy, and able to follow through with duties and assignments.

Salary/Benefits
