Duties

• Deliver weekly general music lessons to all K–5 classrooms in alignment with established curriculum and Illinois Learning Standards
• Provide small-group instrumental instruction to junior high band students at varying skill levels
• Lead whole-group junior high band rehearsals, maintaining continuity of the existing performance curriculum
• Maintain accurate attendance and progress records
• Communicate effectively with the building principal and office staff regarding student performance, behavior, and instructional concerns
• Manage appropriate student conduct consistent with classroom expectations and district policies
• Collaborate with the returning teacher to ensure instructional continuity through thorough documentation and communication

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with endorsement in Music (preferred)
• Experience teaching K–8 general music and/or instrumental band instruction preferred
• Proficiency in a band instrument and standard band repertoire and rehearsal techniques
• Strong classroom management skills across multiple grade levels
• Ability to maintain established routines and instructional pacing
