Middle School Assistant Principal

Duties

 

  • Support the mission, goals, and vision of the school and district.
  • Promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of leadership and decision-making.
  • Provide leadership in student discipline, attendance, and student support services.
  • Assist the principal with daily building operations and assume administrative responsibilities in the principal’s absence.
  • Oversee and support special education programming, student progress, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with special education administrators, counselors, case managers, and staff to ensure appropriate student services and scheduling.
  • Conduct classroom observations and assist with evaluations of certified and non-certified staff.
  • Support student registration, scheduling, and academic programming.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the School Improvement Plan (SIP).
  • Foster positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and community stakeholders.
  • Coordinate student incentive and intervention programs.
  • Supervise student safety during transportation, lunch periods, passing periods, before and after school, and extracurricular activities.
  • Attend and supervise evening and weekend school events as assigned.
  • Work collaboratively with outside agencies including DCFS, law enforcement, juvenile probation, and community organizations.
  • Facilitate IEP meetings, special education staffing meetings, and other student support meetings.
  • Participate in hiring, supervising, and developing support staff and supervisory personnel.
  • Serve on district and community committees.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations related to education and special education services.
  • Maintain current knowledge of educational best practices and leadership expectations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the principal or district administration.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Administrative Endorsement required
  • Master’s Degree in Education required
  • Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience required
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Strong knowledge of student services, special education practices, and school operations
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, students, parents, and community agencies
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and positive school culture
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced educational environment
  • Experience with student discipline, staff supervision, and instructional leadership preferred

 

Salary/Benefits

Salary Range - $76,000 - $80,000 commensurate with experience (base salary, not including TRS)

205 day contract
