Food Service Director

Duties

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Arrange for purchase of food and lunchroom supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed food service records.
  • Recruit and train food service employees.
  • Order U.S.D.A. commodities according to Federal regulations constrained by volume and available storage space, (dry or refrigerated) available inventory, and menu requirements.
  • Assist in preparation of annual budget.
  • Accept order for food and supplies from school units, coordinate orders with menu requirements and inventories.  Place orders with accredited purveyors.  Reconcile delivery slips for amount, price and extensions; preliminary preparation for further processing.
  • Maintain accurate flowing inventory records on food and materials for all units.
  • Prepare and submit an accurate accounting of cafeteria employees’ time.
  • Interviews and recommends employment of all food service employees in collaboration with Principals and the Assistant Superintendent/Business Manager.  
  • Arranges to meet standards of sanitation and safety according to State, Federal, and/or local regulations.
  • Handles district lunch receipts.
  • Administer district at-risk programs as they relate to this job to provide for safe working and learning conditions providing for both physical safety and environmentally safe conditions to work in and learn.
  • Maintains security for all records.  Provides for secure placement of such records when away from work site.
  • Maintains security of the building by securing doors and windows.  Activates security system when last to leave the work site, if applicable.
  • Follows universal precautions in accordance with OSHA standards.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Assistant Superintendent/Business Manager and/or Superintendent.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in institutional food production and management, 

preferably in a school environment.

 

Must meet all Public Health Standards, City of Glenwood, Illinois.

Holds Food Service Sanitation Certificate.
