Duties
Title: Physical Education Teacher
Minimum Qualifications:
Appropriately licensed/certified by the Illinois State Board of Education.
Teachers in grades 6-8 must have Middle School Endorsement in Content Area
Accountable to:
Building Administrators
Primary Objective:
Instructs students in physical education, art, or music activities in educational institution by performing the following duties.
Major Areas of Accountability*:
Plans physical education, art, or music program to promote development of student’s physical attributes, social skills, and life-long activity skills.
Teaches individuals utilizing knowledge of sports, art, or music techniques.
Organizes, leads, instructs, physical games, art activities, or music performances.
Teaches and demonstrates the use of equipment related to physical education, art, or music.
Confers with students, parents, and school counselor to resolve student problems.
Selects, stores, orders, issues, and inventories equipment, materials, and supplies used in physical education, art, or music program.
Supervises classroom, students, and volunteers.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Bending, carrying, climbing, must be able to travel between job sites, lifting, pushing-pulling, reaching, sitting, standing and walking.
Must be able to occasionally lift, move, or push items of 50 lbs such as assisting children or moving/rearranging furniture.
Must be able to supervise students in all types of weather, meet multiple demands from several people, and interact with the public and other staff.
Must have Adaptive Physical Education Approval if a Physical Education Endorsement is
Working Conditions:
Includes extremes of temperature and humidity.
Hazards include stairs and communicable diseases.
