Duties

Donovan CUSD #3 is seeking a motivated and student-centered 5–12 Band/Choir Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. This position includes teaching beginner band at the 5th grade level, as well as Junior High and High School band and choir. The ideal candidate will build strong relationships with students, foster a love of music, and grow our music program within a supportive, small-school environment.

Responsibilities:

• Teach beginner band to 5th grade students
• Instruct Junior High and High School band and choir
• Plan and direct concerts and performances throughout the school year
• Develop engaging lessons that build musical skills and confidence
• Create a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
• Collaborate with staff and communicate effectively with families
• Opportunity to organize and lead Pep Band

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Music Endorsement
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills
• Ability to work with a wide range of grade levels and skill levels
• Passion for building and growing a music program
