Duties
Provide classroom instructions for children during hospitalization by assessing and providing all educational needs. Maintain relationships and become the liaison between school districts and hospital staff while practicing confidentiality. Provide 4 hours of classroom instruction daily for all patients. Assist students with school work, teach them the necessary skills to complete work and monitor completion. If assignments are not available by school, prepare interim school work for each student until his/her work is provided. Assess each student upon admission for math and reading comprehension skills to develop personalized instruction and assignments tailored to student needs. Interview each student individually upon admission in order to offer instruction and assignments.
Qualifications
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License that covers grades 9-12.
Salary/Benefits
200-day contract. Salary will follow Peoria Public Schools Salary Scale. Applicable TRS benefits.
Additional Notes
This position will work as the School/Hospital Liaison. You will need to acquire and maintain open communication between the hospital and school districts. Ensure that all necessary consent forms are completed, signed and disbursed appropriately. Collaborate with Carle Health staff to maintain unit structure in and out of the classroom. Follow up on doctor's orders by completing an in-house Connor's rating scale.
