Duties
Tri-City High school is currently hiring a High School Agriculture Teacher/FFA advisor. Teaching duties would include High School Agriculture classes, one Career Exploration class, and one section of Junior High Exploratory Agriculture for grades 6-8.
The FFA Teacher will play a vital role in delivering agricultural education, facilitating FFA activities, and inspiring students to explore and pursue careers in agriculture. As an FFA teacher, you will guide students in understanding agricultural concepts, developing practical skills, and engaging in hands-on learning experiences. You will provide leadership in coordinating FFA events, supervising student projects, and preparing students for FFA competitions.
FFA Expectations/Duties
- Maintain an active, well-functioning FFA chapter following state and national
- guidelines.
- Supervises and supports the chapter officer team with regular meetings and planning.
- Facilitates participation in leadership events, CDEs/LDEs, conferences, and conventions.
- Ensures accurate submission of rosters, dues, applications, and award forms by deadlines.
- Upholds financial accountability for chapter funds and fundraising.
- Encourages inclusive participation for a diverse range of students.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Education, or related field.
2. Valid teaching license or certification in Agricultural Education in the state of Illinois.
3. Strong knowledge of agricultural science, including plant and animal sciences, agronomy, agricultural mechanics, and agribusiness.
4. Experience in FFA, leadership development, and coordinating FFA activities.
5. Passion for agricultural education and commitment to preparing students for successful careers in agriculture.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents, industry professionals, and community stakeholders.
7. Knowledge of instructional strategies, curriculum development, and assessment practices in agricultural education.
8. Familiarity with technology tools and resources relevant to agricultural education.
9. Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with students, fostering their personal and professional growth.
10. Flexibility to adapt teaching methods and strategies to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of students.
Salary/Benefits
As per Collective Bargaining Agreement
Base salary - B.S. Step 0: $46,301.86 (includes TRS)
