GS Special Education Teacher

Duties

  • This position is a part of the Maroa-Forsyth Grade School Special Education department, helping to guide program goals and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.  
  • Evaluate student progress regularly through the progress monitoring of IEP goals and objectives.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor student IEPs in compliance with state and federal laws and district procedures. 
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents regarding the academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
  • Actively participate in the IEP process. This includes meeting preparation, data collection, written notices, and participation in the meeting. 
  • In the classroom, this position will instruct and support students in courses tailored to meet their individual educational needs while working closely with general education teachers to support inclusive classroom practices and provide accommodations.
  • Supports MTSS processes by implementing general education interventions and conducting ongoing progress monitoring
  • Previous teaching experience with special education students is desired but not required.  All candidates should have an active and appropriate Illinois teaching license for this position.

Qualifications

Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with LBS 1 Endorsement

Salary/Benefits

  • Salary placement schedule: Up to 20 years of experience, including out-of-state and private schools, is granted. Any raises are factored into placement salary after year 1. Placement Matrix for 26-27
  • Board paid TRS
  • $780 board contribution toward health insurance
  • 14 sick days, three personal days
  • Children can attend Maroa-Forsyth Schools even if they live outside the district, as long as the parent or guardian is a full-time employee.
