Duties
Responsible to: RAS Principal
SUMMARY OF PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS
The teacher is responsible for academic, social/emotional instruction as well as behavior management in the classroom. Teachers are responsible for instructional planning and classroom instruction; knowledge of the content area they are teaching, and promotion of positive relationships between themselves and the students, parent/guardian, colleagues, administration and community. The teacher abides by policies and programs established by the Regional Superintendent and provides leadership, direction and guidance of students.
Time Commitment (approximate)
Full Time; Exempt; 180 Days
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervision
- Provide 100% active supervision of students in classrooms.
- Maintain school rules and expectations.
- Implement individual education service plan for students.
- Perform school related duties (hall, drop-off and pick-up, bus, etc.) as assigned by the Principal
Instruction
- Prepare lesson plans and daily classroom instructional activities to implement curriculum in the classroom.
- Provide classroom instruction to students enrolled in the program.
- Engage students in learning through differentiation in teaching methodology.
Record Keeping
- Maintain student records and files in a confidential manner.
- Keep accurate and up to date documentation regarding student progress (grades, effort grades, IEP’s, Success Plans, and Community Service/Work Experience).
- Keep accounting of daily student attendance.
Communication
- Clearly discuss and post classroom expectations and school rules with students.
- Clearly discuss and post effort grade expectations.
- Effectively communicate behavioral and academic student progress with the academic team(s), administration, students and parents.
- Complete and send periodic student progress reports, as scheduled.
- Communicate with academic team(s) and administration student behavioral issues and any crisis intervention implemented.
Assessment
- Administer student assessments in order to ascertain academic needs and progress of students.
- Prepare students for standardized testing and administer that testing at the appointed times.
- Utilize various methods for assessing student success in the classroom.
Team Development/Professional Development
- Maintain a high degree of professionalism and ethics, working within assigned team, with other teams, and with administration, parents, and students.
- Maintain certification through college courses, workshops, and professional development courses.
- Attend team meetings, all-staff meetings, and other meetings as deemed necessary by administration.
Vocational Programming
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and achievement in regards to Community Service and Work Experience.
- Encourage student involvement in weekly completion of volunteer or employment hours.
- Promote a career-ready atmosphere through established curriculum.
