Duties
Some of the duties include (**this list is not all-inclusive):
- Maintain confidentiality including records.
- Counsel students who may be teacher, parent, or self referred.
- Serve as a resource person consulting with teachers, parents, and staff regarding meeting the needs of the students.
- Provide consultation with teachers, administrators, school psychologists, school social workers, outside agencies and social services concerning the welfare of the students.
- Maintain accurate records for student serviced through the counseling program.
- Communicate the function of the counseling program to the community.
- Refer students with problems and their parents to special programs, specialists, and community resources.
- Address immediate student concerns.
Qualifications
A school counselor must hold a Professional Educator License (PEL) with a School Counselor Endorsement.
Salary/Benefits
As per negotiated contract. The board pays the 9% TRS contribution on top of the teacher salary and provides single health insurance at no cost for its employees.
