Elementary School Principal

Duties

  • Creates a school culture and climate of welcoming, belonging, and rigorous learning for all students;
  • Establishes and implements instructional goals aligned to the district’s strategic plan and its attendant initiatives;
  • Has a record of strong outcomes for all students;
  • Crafts and facilitates professional learning for all staff;
  • Models teamwork, encourages collegiality, and supports collaboration;
  • Supports staff in understanding and implementing responsive instructional practices for linguistically, culturally, and socioeconomic diverse learners;
  • Possesses a strong understanding of ISBE mandates and legal guidance related to general education, special education, and MTSS.
  • Demonstrates use data to inform programmatic decisions;
  • Embraces challenging conversations with a variety of stakeholders as opportunities for growth;
  • Proactively determines action steps that must be taken in order to produce strong outcomes for students and takes initiative leading stakeholders in achieving those outcomes;
  • Cultivates strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders across the school and district community (e.g., staff, students, families, community members);
  • Supports all stakeholders through growth toward school or district initiatives over time;
  • Builds and maintains complex structures and systems geared toward realizing strong outcomes for students (e.g., grade-level teams, professional learning communities, curriculum development/review processes, multi-tiered systems of support);
  • Participates in crisis response procedures (i.e., crisis management);
  • Supports instructional staff in aligning curriculum, instruction, and assessment;
  • Evaluates staff in a variety of roles;
  • Is able to evaluate assistant principals is recommend but not required;
  • Builds capacity in other leaders; and
  • Collaborates with a variety of educators, leaders, and community partners.

Qualifications

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educators License with endorsement: General Administrative or Principal Endorsement.
  • Prior administrative experience is preferred.
  • Special Education experience is preferred.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Able to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Salary/Benefits

Competitive Salary & Benefits:

  • Base Salary Range: $85,000 - $95,000
  • 100% TRS board paid
  • Employee's dental, vision, and life insurance paid by the district
  • $825/month paid toward health insurance
  • Competitive compensation package.
