English Learner/ Multi Lingual Instructional Coach

Duties

Coach teachers on integrating language development strategies into core instruction across content areas.
Support planning and delivery of sheltered instruction, scaffolds, and differentiation aligned to students’ language proficiency levels.
Model lessons, co-teach, and provide feedback grounded in best practices for multilingual learners.
Collaborate with teachers to analyze language and academic data to inform instruction and intervention.
Provide professional learning on WIDA standards, language objectives, culturally responsive practices, and effective scaffolding.
Partner with building teams to strengthen MTSS structures for multilingual learners.
Support communication and collaboration with families of multilingual learners.
Contribute to a schoolwide culture that values linguistic diversity and promotes equitable access to grade-level learning.
Facilitate a region-wide cohort to support EL/ML instructional staff.

Qualifications

Valid Illinois teaching license with an English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement or equivalent.
Demonstrated expertise in language development, sheltered instruction, and scaffolding strategies for multilingual learners.
Experience supporting multilingual learners across grade levels and collaborating with general education and EL teachers.
Strong understanding of WIDA Standards, language proficiency levels, and how to design instruction that integrates both content and language objectives.
Knowledge of culturally and linguistically responsive practices that promote equitable access to grade-level learning.
Experience analyzing language and academic data to inform instruction, intervention, and progress monitoring.
Strong communication, facilitation, and coaching skills, with the ability to support adult learners in a non-evaluative, partnership-based model.
Familiarity with MTSS structures and how multilingual learners are supported within Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 systems (preferred).
Bilingual or multilingual proficiency (preferred but not required).

The EL-ML Instructional Coach provides instructional coaching, modeling, and professional learning to strengthen teaching and learning for multilingual learners. This role supports teachers in implementing high-quality, language-rich instruction that accelerates both content understanding and English language development.
