Duties
This position (Religion, grades 6-8) is responsible for leading students in a dynamic and engaging program of Catholic faith formation rooted in evangelization. This role focuses on fostering a deep, personal relationship with Jesus Christ while guiding students to understand, live, and articulate the teachings of the Catholic Church. The teacher will create a classroom environment that invites students into discipleship, encourages critical thinking about faith, and supports their spiritual growth during the formative middle school years.
Evangelization & Faith Formation
- Proclaim the Gospel message with enthusiasm and authenticity, inviting students into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
- Foster a culture of discipleship, prayer, and active faith within the classroom and school community
- Integrate Sacred Scripture, Church Tradition, and Catholic teachings into all aspects of instruction
- Provide opportunities for student participation in prayer, reflection, and service
- Encourage students to live out their faith through virtue, service, and moral decision-making
Instruction & Curriculum
- Plan and deliver engaging Religion instruction aligned with diocesan standards
- Teach core components of the Catholic faith, including Scripture, Sacraments, morality, Church history, and prayer (Confirmation preparation)
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to engage middle school learners and promote meaningful discussion
- Assess student understanding of content as well as growth in faith formation
Spiritual Leadership
- Lead daily prayer and model a vibrant, active faith life
- Support and participate in school liturgies, Masses, retreats, and sacramental preparation (Confirmation) as appropriate
- Collaborate with campus ministry or parish staff to enhance faith formation opportunities
Classroom Environment
- Create a respectful, welcoming, and faith-centered classroom environment
- Establish clear expectations that reflect Gospel values and Catholic moral teachings
- Encourage open dialogue while guiding students in truth and charity
Student Support & Communication
- Build positive relationships with students that support their academic and spiritual growth
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and faith formation
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to support the holistic development of each student
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records of student progress
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events
- Adhere to school policies and diocesan guidelines
- Serve as a witness to the mission of Catholic education in word and action
Salary/Benefits
This is a part-time position with no homeroom, lunch, or recess duties. The salary is $20,000.
