Duties
TITLE: Elementary Instructional Coach
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Masters Degree in Education
2. Holds PEL license with endorsement in elementary education.
3. A minimum of five years of teaching experience (Elementary experience preferred)
4. Working knowledge of differentiated instruction, student-centered learning and data analysis
5. Experience with designing integrated units of study aligned to Illinois Learning Standards
6. Experience with using technology embedded teaching strategies.
7. Experience with teaching and/or coaching adults. (Preferred)
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coaching, Collaboration, and Modeling
1. Collaborates with school level instructional staff for instructional planning, co-teaching and
modeling strategies for effective teaching and learning. Develops the teacher’s capacity to
differentiate learning by modeling and coaching within the classroom.
2. Collaborates with curriculum area specialists, the Director of Elementary Curriculum and district
instructional coaches on curriculum selection and development.
3. Provides continuous, job-embedded professional development of District-supported,
research-based instructional methods and resources
4. Provides differentiated support for teachers through guided conversations when setting
goals, co-planning, modeling, observing and reflecting
5. Collaborates with teachers, PLCs, principals, curriculum director and other Instructional
Coaches to analyze data to guide instructional decisions
6. Identifies technology integration competencies among instructional staff, in collaboration with
school administrators, and delivers appropriate coaching, training and resources to support
professional growth of adult learners.
Instruction/ Professional Development
1. Engages in extensive professional development geared towards both coaching and
instructional methods aligned to the District’s Strategic plan, and Building SIP plans, and
teachers’ professional goals
2. Plans and facilitates professional learning opportunities based on the needs of the district,
school, and/or teachers
3. Researches new technology integration techniques and resources and disseminates to instructional
staff. Learning resources may include Web sites, tutorials, interactive programs and databases
that support teachers in integrating technology.
4. Directs the development and sharing of model instructional lessons to support the implementation
of the Illinois Learning Standards and district curriculum.
Professional Responsibilities
1. Participates in continuous professional development by attending workshops, trainings, and
continual reading of professional books, journals and other literature.
2. Keeps current on emerging instructional technologies.
3. Maintains professional competence in working with adult learners.
4. Promotes and follows adopted school district philosophy, policies and administrative procedures.
5. Communicates concerns and ideas with colleagues, students, parents and community in a
positive, professional and ethical manner.
6. Meets regularly with Assistant Superintendent(s) and Director of Elementary Curriculum to
discuss and recommend ways for improving instructional learning for staff and students.
7. Assists with Board of Education presentations upon request.
8. Other duties as directed by administration.

1. Promotes a positive public relations program in school and in the community.
2. Conducts one’s self in a businesslike, professional and/or task-oriented manner.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1. Employed for the regular teacher work year.
2. Employed as per conditions established by the Board of Education
Additional Notes
This is a full-time position for the 2026-2027 school year.
