Duties
PBL High School is seeking a dedicated, empathetic, and innovative Special Education Teacher. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a supportive learning environment that empowers students with diverse learning needs to achieve their full academic, social, and vocational potential. The ideal candidate is a collaborative problem-solver who can navigate Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) while building strong relationships with students, parents, and staff.
Responsibilities:
Instructional Leadership: Develop and implement modified and specialized instruction in various subjects to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities.
IEP Management: Lead the development, writing, and implementation of IEPs, ensuring all goals are measurable, data-driven, and compliant with state and federal regulations.
Case Management: Maintain accurate records, track student progress, and facilitate annual reviews and 3-year re-evaluations
Collaboration: Work closely with general education teachers to support inclusion models and provide necessary accommodations/modifications in the classroom.
Transition Planning: Assist high school students in developing post-secondary goals, focusing on college readiness, vocational training, or independent living skills.
Behavioral Support: Develop individual behavior intervention plans (BIPs) when necessary.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field
Licensure: Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist I) endorsement (Pre-K to Age 22 or Secondary).
Salary/Benefits
Salary and Benefits: Based on the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Insurance: Employee health insurance is provided by the district.
