Duties
Minimum Qualifications:
- Appropriately licensed/certified by the Illinois State Board of Education.
Accountable to:
Primary Objective:
- Instructs all Kindergarten through Third grade students in art activities aligned with grade level standards in educational institutions by performing the following duties.
Major Areas of Accountability*:
- Plans art programs to promote development of student’s physical attributes, social skills, and life-long activity skills.
- Teaches individuals utilizing knowledge of art techniques.
- Organizes, leads, instructs art activities performances.
- Teaches and demonstrates the use of equipment related to art.
- Confers with students, parents, and school counselors to resolve student problems.
- Selects, stores, orders, issues, and inventories equipment, materials, and supplies used in the art program.
- Supervises classroom, students, and volunteers.
- Collaborates with other art teachers in the district to ensure a cohesive art program is provided to Mokena School District 159 students as they progress through all of the grade levels.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bending, carrying, climbing, must be able to travel between job sites, lifting, pushing-pulling, reaching, sitting, standing and walking.
- Must be able to occasionally lift, move, or push items of 50 lbs such as assisting children or moving/rearranging furniture.
- Must be able to supervise students in all types of weather, meet multiple demands from several sources, and interact with the public and other staff.
Working Conditions:
- Includes extremes of temperature and humidity.
- Hazards include stairs and communicable diseases.
