Music Teacher-2007

Duties

The music teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and differentiated instruction that is aligned to the curriculum and Illinois Learning Standards. The music teacher's goal is to develop in each student an appreciation of music through activities that include signing, listening to music, moving to music, reading music, playing musical instruments, and performances. The music teacher establishes a positive learning environment and commitment to fostering a love of music in students.  The music teacher maintains regular communication with parent(s)/guardian(s) with regard to their instructional program and student success. This position is at the fourth and fifth grade level and requires travel between two school sites on a daily basis.

Qualifications

  • Current and valid Illinois Professional Educator License with a music endorsement applicable to the grade level assigned.
  • Ability to establish positive and supportive relationships with students.
  • Ability to proactively engage students and maintain the pace of a lesson to always keep students on task.
  • Ability to establish a safe learning environment where students feel comfortable taking risks without fear of judgment.
  • Exhibits an eagerness to teach music from various cultures, genres, and time periods.
  • Dedicated to working collaboratively within grade level teams as a means of incorporating cross-curricular projects.  
  • Ability to analyze various forms of data and use the information to make instructional decisions.
  • Knowledge of learning styles and skill in using standards-based varied teaching methods to address student learning styles.
  • Able to work with a diverse student population that come from different linguistic, socioeconomic, and family backgrounds.
  • Establishes clear, appropriate and open communication with parents and guardians.
  • Foundational knowledge of Google Classroom applications and the ability to incorporate technology as a means of enhancing instruction
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

Salary/Benefits

  • Starting salary of $54,344 (Please click the link to view the current  (salary schedule).
  • Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
  • Qualified candidates may be granted up to twenty years of verified full-time teaching experience for credit on the salary schedule.
