HR Manager (Pay and Benefits Coordinator on Application)

Duties

Position Summary/Purpose: The HR manager will start as the Pay and Benefits Coordinator and support the function of employee pay and benefits. This role will transition into the HR Manager, and work with the Director of HR to manage the HR department and lead the HR team to facilitate all aspects of human resources.

 

Compensation and HR Systems Oversight

  • Oversee systems and processes that ensure employees are compensated accurately and in alignment with contracts, board policies, and applicable laws
  • Monitor and analyze benefits and compensation data for accuracy, consistency, and compliance
  • Collaborate with Payroll and Finance to ensure alignment between HR records and pay systems
  • Support contract implementation, salary placements, stipends, and employment status changes

 

Benefits Administration Leadership

  • Oversee employee benefits programs including health, dental, vision, life, etc.
  • Ensure accurate enrollment, eligibility tracking, qualifying event updates, and terminations
  • Lead annual open enrollment planning, communication, and execution
  • Serve as District liaison with benefit providers and brokers
  • Monitor compliance with applicable federal and state regulations related to benefits

 

Compliance and HR Operations

  • Ensure HR processes align with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Support audits, reporting requirements, and internal quality control reviews
  • Maintain and oversee accurate HRIS data management
  • Develop and document procedures to improve operational efficiency

 

Employee Relations and Support

  • Support employees and administrators regarding compensation, benefits, and HR procedures
  • Support supervisors in interpreting employment agreements and HR policies
  • Assist with employee onboarding, employment changes, and separation processes
  • Promote a positive and professional work environment aligned with District values

Data Analysis and Strategic Support

  • Analyze HR data to identify trends and inform decision-making
  • Prepare reports for District leadership and the Board of Education as requested
  • Support strategic initiatives related to recruitment and retention

 

Role and Responsibilities / Essential Job Functions:

  • Directly facilitate or manage all aspects of HR
  • Work with the Director of HR to lead./manage HR team 
  • Maintain (and create as needed) standard operating procedures 
  • Perform other duties as assigned and appropriate to the position 

Qualifications

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • High level experience in HR and/or Payroll
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Accounting, or related field or 3+ years comparable experience
  • High level of computer skill including data entry, information retrieval, and spreadsheets
  • Work with mathematical concepts and statistical inferences 
  • Work independently and in a small group and work with minimal direct supervision
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • High accuracy and attention to detail/Strong organizational skills. 

Preferred Skills:

  • As a multi-language district, we always prefer staff who are bilingual (not required for position)

Salary/Benefits

Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt  Annual Rate for first 90 Days: $70,000, then to $80,000 for 12 months, then $90,000 moving on with regular annual increases after.

Working conditions / Environment:

 

Physical Demands: mobility throughout the office facility, visual acuity close/distance/depth perception, hearing to receive information, verbal to exchange information, sitting for prolonged periods of time, manual dexterity for computer keyboard & telephone use. Physical demands include bending, twisting, stooping, reaching forward, reaching overhead, lifting up to 25 pounds from the floor, pushing & pulling.

 

Environmental Conditions: indoor climate-controlled office environment
