CTE - Health Science Teacher (2026-2027 School Year)

Duties

THE ROLE

For the 2026 2027 school year, teaching responsibilities may include Healthcare Occupations and Medical Terminology. Industry partnerships are established and opportunities are available for growth in the program.

 

JOB GOALS

  1. The ideal candidate will create engaging learning experiences that prepare students for a career path in the health care and medical industry.
  2. Promotes student collaboration in instruction that builds on students' strengths.
  3. Structures lessons and unit plans to ensure a cohesive flow to support student learning and development.
  4. Designs and implements learning experiences that respect and build upon students' identities, lived experiences, and current knowledge and skills to promote meaningful engagement and academic growth.

Qualifications

  1. Candidates who hold a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) in Health Science Education or related Health Science program endorsement. Candidates who hold a valid PEL in another content area may also qualify if they are eligible to add the appropriate CTE endorsement in the Health Science program of study.
  2. To qualify for the Career and Technical Education (CTE) endorsement in health sciences, candidates must have:
  3. either 60 semester hours of college coursework and 2,000 hours of verified work experience in the health sciences field, or
  4. 8,000 hours of verified work experience in the business field if they do not possess 60 semester hours of college coursework in health sciences.
  5. Must be familiar with the use of computers including but not limited to electronic mail, the Internet, and other computer application software (Microsoft Office).
  6. Establish and maintain effective and courteous working relationships with those contacted in the course of work (students, parents, and staff).
  7. Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions.
  8. Ability to communicate with students, parents, and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner.
  9. Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
  10. Ability to push/pull up to 10 lbs.
  11. Ability to supervise and monitor students, including the ability to move throughout the classroom and school facilities, observe student behavior, and respond appropriately to classroom and safety needs.

Salary/Benefits

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Compensation for teaching positions is based on Appendix "A" of the Agreement between the Board of Education, O'Fallon Township High School District No. 203 and the O'Fallon Federation of Teachers, O'Fallon, Illinois 62269 (Collective Bargaining Agreement). This position is eligible for health/dental/vision/life insurance, paid time off, and tuition assistance. This position participates in the Teachers Retirement System (TRS).
