Duties

Cerro Gordo Jr/Sr High School is seeking a passionate and student-centered High School Social Studies Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. The ideal candidate will engage students in meaningful exploration of social sciences while fostering critical thinking, civic awareness, and real-world connections. This position includes teaching a variety of courses, such as Civics, World History, American History, and History Electives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies Education, History, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field.

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with the appropriate High School Social Science endorsement(s), or the ability to obtain them.

• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

• Commitment to fostering student engagement, academic achievement, and responsible citizenship.

Salary/Benefits

Minimum starting salary with pension benefits is $46,791.
